My experiences

I’ve spent my career in education. I started out poolside as a swim instructor, and I fell in love with teaching. From day one, I knew I would not be satisfied with the status quo. And, I created new ways to improve understanding, make learning enjoyable, and connect with my students.

As a young teacher, my ideas were small and focused on my own classroom. When I gained experience and confidence, however, I sought like-minded collaborators. In collaboration with others, I’ve designed curriculum, built school-wide programs, and trained other teachers.

I am constantly questioning our approaches to teaching and learning. My favorite questions are “what if?” and “why not?” I love discussing ideas and possibilities.

We face so many challenges in the world of education. I wonder. How do we prioritize? Are there unique routes we can take?

If we can launch people into space just for fun….surely we can tackle the challenges of our education system!
